shibori blossom haori

80.00

The design on this pretty haori has been created using the traditional dye and resist technique called kanoko shibori. The motif is sketched onto the silk and then each dot is individually hand tied along the lines to create a miniature tie dye effect which makes up the larger pattern. The dyed silk is lined with a thin cotton.

Historically kanoko shibori would be ironed flat at the end of the process until imitations of the art form began to appear. The symbolic texture of kanoko shibori is now left out of respect for the process of the dying art form and increase the value of the genuine handicraft.

Haoris are shorter in length which makes them easy to wear and they look great worn as a jacket with jeans.

This vintage kimono is in near perfect condition but due to its age has some minor water mark discolouration. Please contact us for more images or if you have any questions.
