Nature provides the inspiration for this miniature child’s kimono. Despite it’s size this delicate child’s kimono boasts a striking design of traditional Japanese flora; botan (peony), Shiragika (chrysanthemum), Hyakunichisou (zinnia) and Sakura (cherry blossom). Flowers are greatly important in Japanese culture and Hanakotoba, The Language of Flowers, is the traditional set of values from which we should decipher their individual meaning.

Kimonos are worn by children at special festivals which mark the milestones in a childs growth. Shichi-Go-San is a festival taking place in November, where 5 year old boys and girls aged both three and seven will attend to thank the gods for health and growth.

This vintage kimono is in near perfect condition but due to its age has some minor water mark discolouration on the lining. Please contact us for more images or if you have any questions.
