painted rose haori

190.00

The light woven silk of this haori creates a soft edge to the red, pink, yellow and grey roses. The sophisticated combinations of colour are brought together like brush strokes with a feathered weave which creates subtle details. This ikat-style silk weave is know as meisen, which was most popular from the late Meiji period until around 1950. The style of this haori suggests it was created around 1940s but the modern design still appeals today.

Haori’s are shorter in length which makes them perfect to wear as a jacket over any outfit. Traditionally in Japan they are worn as an outer layer over the full kimono.

This vintage kimono is in near perfect condition but due to its age has some minor water marks and discoloration. Please contact us images.
