shuiro shibori kimono

285.00

The beauty of this kimono lies in the combination of traditional techniques. The lower panels show a graphic floral design in iconic white and bright red, while the upper panels have been created using the traditional dye resist technique of Shibori. This particular kimono is a beautiful example of Kumo Shibori, which is made by tying the silk around an object such as wooden dowel to create the diamond pattern. Shibori is so popular in Japan that it is often replicated as a printed pattern. This pattern can be seen in the background of the floral panels of the kimono. It is a rare treat to see both styles used together!

This extra special kimono has been lovingly preserved but due to it’s age it has some small holes and will require a loving home. For more information please contact onakimono@outlook.com.
